Research Interests:
  • Numerical study of friction

Research:

We are using the HOLA (Hordes Of Little Atoms) molecular dynamics code to study the atomic level mechanisms of friction. This effort involves modifying the code to accomodate the materials of interest as well as simultaneous interactions of different atomic species. A novel addition to the code will allow charge transfer between atoms, therefore facilitating the simulation of electrical current effects on the friction and wear of materials.
