International Advisory Committee: P.G. de Gennes (France), J.N. Israelachvili (USA), T. Pollard (USA), H. Ringsdorf (Germany) Local Organizing Committee: A. Halperin (SPrAM, Grenoble, France), J. Kas, M. Forstner, D. Martin (University of Texas at Austin, USA) Synopsis and Perspective: The distinctive aspect of this conference is that it aims to promote exchange and collaboration between practitioners of three different and weakly interacting disciplines: soft matter physics, supramolecular chemistry and molecular cell biology. To this end we bring together a group of experts committed to such an exchange and focus the conference on a well-defined theme of assembly and self-assembly. In addition, the program of this conference intentionally avoids well-discussed topics such as protein folding and membrane physics. This new century's science will be greatly inspired by biology. Enhancing contacts between biology, chemistry and physics is important for the achievement of synergy between these disciplines and for technological developments in our future society.More Information: The conference is fully subscribed. We will be providing periodic updates before the conference begins.
